Wireless service is available throughout the library, including guest access. These computers are available for the public to use and do not require a UW NetID login. There are copiers, printers and scanners in the area to facilitate express computing needs. These computers have Microsoft Office in addition to general Internet access.
The 1st floor center area provides access to walk-up computers for quick access to look up call numbers for titles in the library collection, or just to do a check of email or print a document or two. Check out the availability of those and other rooms that can be reserved using the Study Room reservation system, including which study rooms have computers, large monitors, or projectors. Large monitors are available throughout the active learning space as well as within two of the breakout rooms (room 3251, 3261) supporting collaborative group work. Courses use the WisCEL space during daytime instructional hours and the room is open for general access use at all other times the library is open, offering the same software suite that is available in the 2nd floor computer lab. Room 3250 on the 3rd floor is home to one of the two campus WisCEL Centers, providing an active learning space that supports the “flipped classroom” pedagogy. Individual general access computers are available at all hours the library is open, and the collaborative computing spaces available in DesignLab and the Media Studios are open for use any time they are not scheduled for classes, consultation services, or events. DesignLab and Media Studios are located within the computer lab, and there is also a hands-on computer classroom for software training. The computer lab on the 2nd floor offers equipment check-out, video-editing stations, poster printing, regular black & white or color printing, scanning stations and point-of-need assistance at the help desk. The computers and software purchased with SITI funds are available only to UW-Madison students, faculty and staff, and require an active NetID for use. The library offers general access computing in partnership with the campus InfoLabs program and supported by the Student Information Technology Initiative (SITI). College Library is home to a number of innovative, technology-enhanced spaces and services to meet the needs of students and support digital and media-rich courses.
